Vegas Poker Photography: Three Months, 1,000 Photos, and One Last Look at My Vegas

Whether I am heading to a poker room, grabbing coffee, driving through the suburbs, wandering around downtown, or exploring somewhere completely unexpected, the camera is never far away.

Over the years, photography has become an important part of how I tell poker stories. Oftentimes, when reviewing my own photos after a trip, I come to the conclusion that my most interesting images have nothing to do with cards or chip stacks. They are found on the road, in a casino corridor, at sunset in the desert, or during a random conversation with a stranger.

Those moments help paint a fuller picture of poker travel and life on the road.

One of the highlights of this (every) Vegas stay, was another road trip to Laughlin.

The drive alone was worth the journey. Long desert roads, dramatic landscapes, and a completely different atmosphere from the energy of Las Vegas. Once there, the Colorado River provided a refreshing contrast to the dry surroundings that have defined most of my time in Nevada.

After returning to Las Vegas, my focus shifted toward the World Series of Poker.

As many readers know, I have been covering the WSOP for PokerExklusiv, spending long days inside the Horseshoe and Paris convention areas while trying to capture not only the tournament action but also the atmosphere surrounding the biggest poker festival in the world.

The challenge is always the same: finding interesting stories and photographs beyond the obvious.

During these three months, I have assembled an archive containing more than 1000 photographs.

The collection includes poker images, city scenes, road trips, casino photography, desert landscapes, and countless small moments that together tell the story of another extended stay in Nevada.

Everyone is welcome to browse through the archive. Hopefully, it offers a different perspective on Las Vegas than what is usually found on social media.

For the moment, it is time to say goodbye to Las Vegas.

Not permanently, of course. Vegas has a habit of pulling people back.

But after months of desert heat, endless poker action, and thousands of photographs, my attention is turning back toward Europe and the poker events waiting there.

Exactly where the next few weeks will lead remains somewhat open. Fortunately, there is never a shortage of tournaments across the continent.

One destination is already confirmed for thiss summer. I am likely to visit the Namur poker festivals in Belgium since I will spend some amount of time in the Benelux region and, later in August, I will travel to Grand Casino Liechtenstein for The Hendon Mob Championship.

Nestled among the Alps, Liechtenstein promises a completely different backdrop from the Nevada desert. After weeks spent under the relentless summer sun of the American Southwest, the prospect of mountain scenery and fresh alpine air sounds particularly appealing.

And naturally, the cameras will be coming along.

The Vegas chapter may be temporarily closing for now, but the poker photography journey continues.
