Poker Photos Beyond the WSOP Tunnel Vision

Every summer, Las Vegas becomes the center of the poker universe.

Thousands of players arrive with dreams of bracelets, life-changing scores, and unforgettable stories. Media teams, photographers, bloggers, and content creators spread across the casino floors, all focused on the same thing: the action at the tables. And understandably so.

This year, I’m here too. I’m playing cash games and doing my thing in and around Las Vegas. Poker summer in Sin City has been a yearly thing since 2015 for me and this year, my goal is not to document the WSOP but rather to take poker photos in Las Vegas during the WSOP. I’m spending long days inside the casinos, just like everyone else. But after more than a month in Nevada already, I found myself drawn toward something slightly different.

One Game ♦️ One World

Shift of Focus

Just like one uses different lenses and camera settings to get another view on things, I played a bit with my mental settings too. While much of the poker world has its head firmly in the WSOP grind, I wanted to occasionally look up.

Instead of focusing exclusively on player portraits and tournament results, I’ve become increasingly interested in everything surrounding the game, the atmosphere inside the rooms or the changing face of the casinos. People watching also reaches a whole new level when one focuses on crowds moving through the hallways and busy streets. It’s about the feeling of Las Vegas during the busiest poker season of the year.

Creating Memories

Years from now, a tournament recap may remind us of a final table. A photograph of a crowded hallway, an empty poker room at sunrise, or a packed casino floor can remind us what it actually felt like to be here.

These poker photos are less about documenting individual moments and more about preserving the atmosphere around them as a souvenir, a testimonial. The rooms, the casinos, the people passing through, and the unique energy that takes over Las Vegas every summer.

That’s the perspective I’m trying to capture this year. Not from the center of the spotlight, but from one row back with a wider lens for a broader story as a visual record of the places, people, and atmosphere that make poker summer in Vegas more than just a list of results.
